UnioBox3
The UnioBox3 is part of our newest range of extruded aluminium electronic enclosures. It is made of extruded side pieces with top and bottom made of sheet aluminium. It comes in standard sizes, but it is fairly simple to punch the sheet aluminium to non-standard widths and lengths and make the front panels to match. Also, we can make connector holes at the same time. The enclosure end plates are fixed via self tapping screws into screw ports in the side extrusions. It comes in a standard 120mm height. These corresponds with a 3U height in a 19" rack system (hence the name Uniobox). The actual height of a 3U 19" rack panel is 132mm, so this is slightly smaller, allowing it to be adapted as a back box for such a panel. A common application might be to have 2 versions of a product. The 19" version would have the Uniobox with 19" rack front, whereas the standalone version would have the usual front with the rounded corners.
We have been trying some new ideas recently, in response to customer demand, and we found a nice little aluminium extruded DIN rail mounting clip made by Fischer that we can bond onto any of our aluminium boxes. We have some small quantities of this. You can also get it from RS Components, part number 203-808. There is a picture in our gallery here.
We also developed a swivel bracket for the Uniobox which clamps into the scallops on the sides. This allows the box to be mounted in, for example, the bridge house of a boat and the angle adjusted to improve viewing of a display on the front. The box can be removed from the clamp when not required. This would allow removal at night to prevent theft, for example. At the moment, this is a custom design depending on the size of the box. UnioBox is available in silver or black anodized finish, and the side extrusions are available on their own (sold in pairs).
